A normal PC is not always suitable, or necessary, to connect with the database or with the application server, in some areas of a company.

For instance, in production areas or warehouse, a touch screen and a barcode scanner or RFID reader is often more suitable as a PC with a normal keyboard and a mouse. For this reason, my customers also use terminals.

My project experience has shown that it is important to modify the terminal optimally to the requirements of a group of users. The hardware and the software that runs on it do not have to do everything that a normal PC can do, but rather, they must fulfil a special function well.
